For any serious long term timber repair, a two part epoxy system such as Evermend is the undisputed professional choice.
Epoxy systems consist of two components, a resin and a hardener. When combined, they trigger a chemical reaction that forms a strong, flexible, waterproof material. This makes epoxy fundamentally different from traditional fillers.
Epoxy is not just a filler. It acts as a structural replacement for the timber itself. Once cured, it becomes a permanent load bearing repair that:
• Remains flexible with natural timber movement
• Will not shrink or crack over time
• Is waterproof and weather resistant
• Is stronger than the surrounding wood
That is why epoxy systems like Evermend are trusted for demanding exterior repairs where durability, strength, and longevity are paramount.
A 2-part timber epoxy such as Evermend works by combining resin (base) and hardener (activator) in the correct ratio. When mixed:
• An exothermic, cross-linking chemical reaction occurs
• The paste turns into a solid, high-strength, flexible, and waterproof material
• It chemically and physically bonds with the timber, forming a durable repair rather than just sitting on the surface
Once cured, the epoxy can be sanded, drilled, shaped, painted, or stained just like natural timber. This makes it both a filler and a powerful adhesive, ideal for repairing cracks, rot, and missing timber sections.
In short: The chemical reaction creates a strong, long-lasting, and flexible repair that integrates seamlessly with the existing timber
Evermend is suitable for both interior and exterior timber repairs, including:
• Window frames and sills
• Doors and door frames
• Skirting boards and architraves
• Furniture
• Decking and outdoor timber
• Joinery, trims, and architectural features
• Anywhere externally that requires timber repair, such as cladding, handrails

Traditional wood fillers are mainly designed for cosmetic repairs. They typically dry by evaporation, sit on the surface of the timber, and can shrink, crack, or break away over time, especially in exterior or high-movement areas.
Evermend is different. It is both a filler and a powerful adhesive that chemically bonds with the timber, creating a repair that becomes part of the wood itself. This results in a stronger, more durable repair that won’t shrink or separate when applied correctly.
Because of this, Evermend can be used not only for cosmetic filling, but also for rebuilding damaged sections, reinforcing timber, and handling demanding interior and exterior repairs where traditional fillers are not suitable.
Evermend does not slump, so is great for those vertical and overhead repairs.
Choose the 1-Hour Cure if:
• You’re doing small repairs or patching
• Speed matters and you need to finish the job quickly
• You’re working on simple shapes or shallow fills
• You want minimal downtime before sanding and finishing
Choose the 4-Hour Cure if:
• You’re doing larger, deeper, or more complex repairs
• The repair requires shaping, rebuilding and you want more working time
• You want more working time before the material begins to set
• Better for complex, overhead and verticle repairs

Yes, preparation is critical.
Proper prep is essential to the performance of Evermend. Skipping or rushing this step may result in repair failure. Evermend is designed to chemically bond with timber, so the repair area must be correctly prepared before application.
Prep Checklist (Before Applying Evermend)
✔ Remove all loose, soft, or decayed timber back to solid, sound wood
✔ Ensure the area is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, oil, or contaminants
✔ Remove paint, coatings, or sealers from the repair area
✔ Ensure Timber moisture content is below 18%. Moisture levels can be easily checked using a moisture meter, available online or from most hardware stores
✔ Identify and address any moisture or water ingress issues before applying
✔ Use Evermend Stabiliser to prime the base. This strengthens the timber and ensures the repair bonds properly
What NOT to do
✘ Do not apply Evermend over soft, damp, or rotten timber
✘ Do not apply over painted, sealed, or contaminated surfaces
✘ Do not skip prep to “save time”. It will compromise the repair
✘ Do not apply if the timber issue (leaks, moisture, rot source) has not been fixed
✘ Do not apply Evermend if the timber moisture content is above 18% . Excessive moisture will prevent proper bonding and can cause repair failure
Yes. Once fully cured, Evermend can be sanded, shaped, and finished just like timber. It sands smoothly and cleanly, allowing you to achieve a seamless repair that blends into the surrounding wood.
For best results:
• Allow the repair to fully cure before sanding
• Start with a coarser grit to shape if needed, then finish with a finer grit
• Remove dust before priming or painting
After sanding, Evermend can be primed, painted, or coated using standard finishing systems.
You should always use Evermend Stabiliser.
The Stabiliser primes and strengthens the timber, ensuring the repair area is stable and ready for Evermend to chemically bond effectively.
Even if the timber looks solid, using the Stabiliser:
• Reinforces weaker areas
• Ensures maximum adhesion and longevity of the repair
In short: Skipping the Stabiliser is not recommended, it’s a critical part of a strong, lasting Evermend repair.
We recommend using the Evermend extrusion tool for application of Evermend Products.
Our tool is high-quality, designed to the correct specifications, and works perfectly with Evermend cartridges for reliable results.
Some other high-quality extrusion tools might work, but there are many models on the market, and we cannot guarantee compatibility, quality, or performance with tools from other brands. Some may not meet the same specifications as the Evermend gun.
💡 Tip for first-time buyers: The Evermend Starter Pack includes the extrusion tool and represents a significant saving compared to buying the tool separately.
Evermend Self-Mix Pots are a simple and cost-effective way to use our epoxy repair system without an extrusion gun.
Unlike cartridges, which dispense the two parts in the correct amounts, Self-Mix Pots require you to measure the resin (base) and activator yourself before mixing them.
Benefits of Self-Mix Pots:
• No need for an extrusion gun — ideal for first-time users or those wanting to save on equipment
• Flexible quantities — mix only as much as you need for each repair
• Cost-effective — very popular with tradespeople and DIYers looking to reduce upfront costs
• Reliable performance — when measured and mixed correctly, they provide the same strong, durable repairs as cartridges
Tip: Carefully measure and mix the components according to instructions for the best results. Proper mixing ensures a strong chemical bond and full curing of the repair.
Correct mixing is critical.
Mixing tips for best results:
• Measure accurately when using Self-Mix Pots. Always follow the recommended resin-to-hardener ratio
• Use a folding action, not aggressive stirring , fold the product over itself to ensure a thorough, even mix
• Continue folding until the colour and consistency are completely uniform
• Mix only small, manageable amounts at a time to stay within the working time
• Be aware that mixing triggers an exothermic reaction — larger batches will cure faster and generate more heat
• Apply immediately once mixed; do not let the product sit on the mixing board
If in doubt: Follow along with our step-by-step mixing videos on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCngSY5WCrTAC41HlnoeWMGQ)and Instagram,(https://www.instagram.com/evermend_aus/) where we show the correct folding technique and application process in real time.
Evermend should not be applied in damp, wet, or rainy conditions.
Moisture on the surface will react with the epoxy, preventing it from curing properly. Even light moisture, condensation, or rain during curing can cause failure.
For best results:
• Only apply Evermend in dry conditions
• Ensure the timber surface is completely dry
• Confirm timber moisture content is below 18% before application
• Protect the repair from rain or moisture until fully cured
